From the director of THE SOURCE FAMILY - this feature documentary is about The Unarius Academy of Science, an extraterrestrial-channeling spiritual school and selfhealing community established in the 1970s in El Cajon, California that became a wildly prolific filmmaking collective under the direction of outlandish spiritual leader and filmmaker Ruth E. Norman, AKA “Archangel Uriel.”

In 1975, Ruth established Unarius Academy of Science in the working-class town of El Cajon, California with a grand mission: to “polarize planet Earth” with positive energy and help bring about a new golden age for mankind. She was determined to do this by pu!ing a public face on Unarius and taking their extraterrestrial-channeled wisdom teachings to the masses.

Ruth had a vision that 33,000 benevolent “Space Brothers” would soon land in Southern California and usher in a new golden era for humanity. She was so certain it would happen she waged a $4,000 bet with an international gambling agency that the aliens would land within a year. She landed on national television.

Dressed in a rainbow cape and gli!er platforms, “Spaceship Ruthie” and her outlandish proclamations splashed across the pages of major newspapers and tabloid magazines and she was interviewed on shows like CBS EVENING NEWS, LATE NIGHT WITH DAVID LETTERMAN and REAL PEOPLE.

At a time when CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND and STAR WARS had millions of Americans questioning if Earthlings were the alone inhabitants of the Universe, Ruth Norman hit the zeitgeist.

“If I didn’t know Jodi Wille’s film, WELCOME SPACE BROTHERS, was a documentary, I’d swear it was a WTF, insane, sci-fi tale of weirdness.’ —Alan Ng, Film Threat

“The best documentary I’ve seen in decades.” —Ma"hew Timpson, Owner, Hollywood Cinema, Auckland, NZ

“With their processionals of costumed aliens, caveman tableaus, and fire-breathing monsters, the viewer wonders if they inspired Alejandro Jodorowsky, who took the same devotional approach to his film THE HOLY MOUNTAIN (1973).” — Ann McCoy, Brooklyn Rail

“...absolutely riveting…“....we see a host of mid-twentieth-century Americans feeling dislocated and lost...craving a sort of creativity, acceptance, and love. Ruth Norman, with her…absolute confidence that the…people she gathered around herself could produce art so powerful it would change the world, gave it to them." —Ma"hew Bowman, Nova Religio

“EP (Elijah) Wood says, “As our first entry into the documentary space, WELCOME SPACE BROTHERS has all the qualities we look for in a film—compelling characters, stunning music and visuals and incredible heart. At a time when we humans are examining our relationship to the UFO phenomenon, its hopeful message is as welcome as the space brothers themselves.” —Ma"hew Carey, Deadline

“As with (Wille’s) previous film THE SOURCE FAMILY…she remains steadfastly nonjudgemental… Where corporate stooge David Le"erman saw Uriel as one zany kook among an endless stream of “talent,” Wille accepts her as a significant historical figure—a flawed but visionary creative force for good in the world, deserving of our respect.” —Doug Harvey, Artillery
