Featuring artists from across the Albuquerque creative community, the documentary explores themes of dedication, identity, financial reality, family balance, and the internal drive that pushes artists to continue creating despite the challenges. Following the screening, there will be a short conversation with the filmmaker and participating artists about the realities of sustaining a creative life. This event offers a rare look behind the curtain of artistic practice and celebrates the resilience and passion of the local creative community.

Mark Archuleta is an Albuquerque-based filmmaker and the founder of Marchuleta Productions. His work focuses on documenting artists, creators, and the cultural landscape of New Mexico through intimate and cinematic storytelling. He is the creator of the documentary series Meet the Artist, which explores the lives and creative practices of artists across the state. His films emphasize the process of creation and the personal stories behind artistic work. The Cost of Creating continues that exploration by examining the sacrifices artists make in order to pursue their craft.
